It is mid March, which means basketball games! We all love watching the NCAA tournament games but Creighton has been into some different kinds of games lately. I love playing games with him and I also know just how much games can teach kids... motor skills, direction following, turn taking and also lengthens their attention span. Besides that, it's just fun! At our house, we love the classics (think Candy Land) but we also have a few different games that you may not have heard of that we love! A few of our favorites:
Eeboo: Build a Robot game
I think that they have this in other forms (instead of the robot). You spin the spinner, and then build your robot with the corresponding numbered piece. Think Cooties but with numbers and puzzle skills. The game says it is for ages 5 and up, but Creighton has no trouble playing it with us. He also likes to play independently, just making the different robots with the puzzle pieces.
Eeboo: Lotto Game
This is another favorite of ours! There are 6 different lotto boards, all with different categories; pets, zoo animals, toys, food, transportation, farm animals. Creighton can also play this game independently by making matches and sorting the cards into the different categories.
Our "grown-up" games are fun to play with too. We count domino dots, sort Skip-Bo and Dutch Blitz cards by numbers or colors, and make patterns with Pente marbles and checkers. If you have some little gamers at your house, maybe you can try these ideas out too! I hope you like them as much as we do!
